Atlético Paranaense will be the first football team in Brazil to implement a biometric system to identify fans throughout the stadium, the club confirmed today.

The fingerprint service will begin to be used next September 10, in the regional classic between Atlético Paranaense and Coritiba, for the Brazilian Championship.

So far, the Atlético Paranaense, the Gremio and the International already used the system in the accesses of the roving clubs, but now it will be extended to the rest of the stadium in the fort of the Paraná club.

According to sports management specialists, the application of biometric identification systems can reduce violence in stadiums.

The Justice of Rio de Janeiro determined last May the implementation of this system in the stadiums of the state of Fluminense in order to prevent the access of fans fined or suspended during any of the competitions organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) . EFE
